On December 6, Valerie Salcedo is taking over Mariposa Plaza for a one-of-a-kind holiday event! Salcedo, also known as Miss Fresno, will perform Christmas classics, as well as original music, for a kid’s concert in the heart of downtown Fresno.

Salcedo has carved a name for herself in the Central Valley music scene, performing with the likes of the Fresno Philharmonic and Fresno Grand Opera. She’s also traveled across the world to perform for military and veteran event ceremonies, she’s served as a director of children’s theater in South Korea, and has been featured in productions in New York City and the Bay Area.

After earning the title of Miss Fresno County, Salcedo founded Music for Love, a nonprofit that brings music to underprivileged youth in the Fresno area. She also works with Link Up , a program of Carnegie Hall, designed to connect kids with live music. This event will allow Salcedo to unite two of her favorite things -- music and teaching -- as a choir of her students join her on stage.

The event begins at 6pm and the performance kicks off at 7pm. Stop by the Vendor Village for the best in handcrafted goods, perfect for holiday gifts. Jitters Coffee Truck will be on-site for all of your caffeine and cocoa needs. Plus, we’ll have family activities to join in on. It’s all happening on December 6 at Mariposa Plaza in downtown Fresno!
