Fathers want their children to have every opportunity to thrive starting at birth. However, fathers can sometimes feel left out or helpless during their partner’s pregnancy, birth and after birth period, especially if the birth is premature (born before 37 weeks). Many fathers may be unaware that preterm birth is a growing epidemic that can have life-long consequences for their children. For our June Collaboratory, in honor of Father’s Day, we will be speaking with dads who have experienced a preterm birth about what advice they have for future fathers, and their recommendations to clinicians and doulas about best practices for engaging fathers in the pregnancy and birth process.
