The Downtown Fresno Partnership has ended a nationwide search for a new leader, tapping former Downtown City Manager of Albany, Ga. Aaron Blair to head up the organization. Blair began his position in July 2014, replacing interim President and CEO Craig Scharton and former head, Kate Borders who stepped down in March to run the Downtown Tempe Community in Arizona. As the Downtown City Manager in Albany, Blair was instrumental in recruiting 30 new businesses to the area and attracting $4 million in new private investment in one of the nation's poorest communities. He also oversaw several infrastructure projects to revitalize aging streets. At the same time, Blair was the executive director of the Albany-Doughterty Inner City Authority charged with revitalizing and redeveloping the downtown Albany area. Before that Blair was the executive director for the Collier County Community Redevelopment Agency in Naples, FL.  Blair received a bachelor's degree in urban planning in 1999 from the University of Cincinnati. Welcome to Downtown Fresno!

On June 7th, the Downtown Fresno Partnership unveiled the country's largest postage stamp mural, highlighting some of the Central Valley's most iconic places and figures. The mural, displayed on the north wall of the Pacific Publishing building at 1315 Van Ness Ave., is the result of more than five months of work by painter FranCisco Vargas. The piece measures 34 feet by 125 feet with the word "Fresno" in large letters bordered like a postage stamp.
