The Fresno Grizzlies are the Triple-A baseball affiliate of the Houston Astros. The club competes in the 16-team Pacific Coast League.
The Grizzlies are committed to providing the most complete and affordable family entertainment experience possible. The organization has been lauded as one of Minor League Baseball’s leaders when it comes to creativity and promotion. In both 2008 and 2009, the team was honored as the best game entertainment operation in professional sports by GameOps.com. The Grizzlies were awarded MILB.com‘s 2008 Promotion of the Year Award for their “Mascot Showdown” between Parker and the world-famous Phillie Phanatic and were runner up in 2009 for “As Seen on TV Night”. Ballpark Digest honored the team with its Promotion of the Year award in 2008 as well, for “Totally Rad 80’s Night Featuring Billy Zabka”.
Parker, the beloved mascot of the Grizzlies, has risen to national prominence in his first four years with the team. In addition to going toe-to-toe with industry legend Phillie Phanatic at Chukchansi Park, Parker was named GameOps.com‘s 2007 Mascot of the Year. The big bear spends his downtime in the offseason promoting his Wild About Reading program in Valley schools, and starring in “I Hate The OffSeason”, an Internet mini-series with new episodes available each Friday at FresnoGrizzlies.com.
The home of the Grizzlies, Chukchansi Park in downtown Fresno, opened in 2002 and is regarded as one of the finest ballparks in the country. In addition to hosting all Grizzlies home games, the stadium is one of the most versatile and useful venues in California, hosting soccer, football, trade shows, and concert events.
